Celebrating the U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman Birthday
Today, on June 17th, 2023 we celebrate the 125th birthday of the U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman. This day is dedicated to honoring the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve as medical professionals in the United States Navy. The Navy Hospital Corpsman is a vital part of the Navy's medical team, providing medical care to sailors, marines, and their families.
The Navy Hospital Corpsman has a long and storied history, dating back to the early days of the Navy. Established on June 17, 1898, the Hospital Corps enabled the Navy to provide formal medical training to sailors. Since then, they have served in every conflict in which the Navy has been involved, from the Revolutionary War to the present day. They have earned numerous awards and decorations for their service, including the Medal of Honor. |
The Navy Hospital Corpsman is trained to provide emergency medical treatment, perform surgeries, and assist in medical research. They are often the first responders in times of crisis, and their bravery and dedication to their patients are unmatched. They are responsible for providing medical care to sailors, marines, and their families, both at sea and on land.
On this special day, we honor the Navy Hospital Corpsman for their selfless service and dedication to their patients. We thank them for their bravery and commitment to the Navy and the United States of America. We recognize the sacrifices they have made to ensure the health and well-being of their fellow service members and their families. |
Flag Day Celebration in Highland Park
On June 14, 2023, veterans gathered at the intersection of Figueroa and York Blvd in Highland Park to celebrate Flag Day. The veterans were concerned about the site being neglected and arranged a meeting with CD 1 to get the site up and running. The efforts paid off, as trees were trimmed, lighting was repaired, and new flags were put in place, including the U.S. and POW flags.
The El Rio Veterans, Proudly We Stand, and VFV Post 207 in Highland Park all played a significant role in making this happen. The Los Angeles City Street Maintenance also contributed to the efforts. Present at the celebration were Al Strange, Robert Acosta, Ben Felix, Tom Atkins, David Bloom, Art Camarillo, and others. The efforts of these veterans and community members are commendable, and their dedication to honoring the flag and veterans is inspiring. This Flag Day celebration is a reminder of the sacrifices made by our veterans and the importance of honoring them. It is also a testament to the power of community and the impact that can be made when people come together for a common cause.
While this event may seem small, it is a significant step towards creating a more vibrant and connected community. It is a reminder that we all have a role to play in making our communities better places to live. As we celebrate Flag Day, let us remember the sacrifices made by our veterans and honor them by working towards a better future for all.
